Andritz Hydro Canada is offering a fall internship within its mechanical engineering and automation teams, working on projects ranging from the design to the implementation of mechanical equipment related to energy production systems, such as electrical panels, busbars, instrumentation, and more.  This internship will allow you to apply your academic knowledge within a leading company in the hydroelectric field. You will have the opportunity to work on innovative and complex projects, collaborating with seasoned experts.  Supervised by experienced engineers and designers, the intern will contribute to the various stages of the design cycle, from the initial concept through to support for shop-floor manufacturing.  The practical experience gained during the internship will contribute to the development of your mechanical design skills and understanding of engineering processes.

 

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Model 3D assemblies and produce 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor
  • Participate in the design of electrical panels, including electrical layout, structures, supports, and mechanical integration
  • Design sheet metal components, including bending, cutting, and assembly
  • Design and develop busbars and their supports
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings for parts and assemblies
  • Participate in the shop layout using Inventor
  • Review drawings and models to ensure manufacturability and compliance
  • Participate in the selection of components and materials
  • Assemble electromechanical products in the workshop
  • Perform drawing revisions and corrections throughout the project
  • Prototype tooling using 3D printing

 

What you need to succeed:

  • Student enrolled in a college diploma program (DEC) in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field
  • Academic or personal experience in mechanical assembly design (an asset)
  • Strong interest in mechanical design and manufacturing
  • Basic knowledge of 3D CAD software (Inventor is an asset)
  • Knowledge of electrical panels or industrial equipment (an asset)
  • Interest in hands-on work and being present in the workshop (an asset)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal work, machining, and assembly
  • Analytical mindset, resourcefulness, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a technical environment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in French and English
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
